Getting Around

Exploring Brussels and its attractions on foot is the best option as most sights such as museums, parks and monuments are located close to each other.

Public Transport

Most public transport in the Brussels-Capital Region is organized by the STIB (Société des Transports intercommunaux bruxellois). The best way to explore the city is to travel via the ground tram, which is also known as pré-métro. It is very efficient and is rarely affected by the city traffic or there are above ground bus and tram connections. Brussels Metro that dates back to 1976 operates through six underground lines.

You can buy a ticket at various metro stations or STIB information offices. Single ticket costs 2.10 EURO and 1-day card costs 7.50 EURO.

There are also Brussels cards available to explore the capital city of Belgium. This card offers unlimited travel on the metro, bus and tram network, as well as free entry to major museums, discounts in restaurants, bars, shops, tourist attractions, tours, and also for the Atomium. A free guidebook is also provided with it. More information here.

By Bicycle

The Brussels bicycle network is well marked on all routes around the city and cycling is encouraged as a great way for visitors to discover the city.

You can rent bicycles throughout Brussels using the “Villo” service, with many stations to collect and drop off your rental bicycle. There are two stations within 2-minute walk from SQUARE.

You can find more information on this website.

Taxis

Hiring a taxi that has an official yellow-and-blue Brussels taxi sign is advisable. If you book a taxi in advance, it is more profitable and also, most companies offer a pick-up facility at your place.
